WINDHAM — A three-alarm fire destroyed a log cabin on Jerusalem Road Sunday morning, October 18, WFSB reported, citing fire officials. Two adults and a dog escaped before firefighters arrived and were safe, according to the station.
Windham Center Fire Department’s original dispatch notice identifies an 8:07 a.m. residential structure-fire call on Jerusalem Road between Riverdale Drive and Myers Road. Its 10 a.m. announcement confirms that the department’s operational response is continuing.
WFSB reported that flames had been knocked down but the fire was not yet under control. The building was collapsing inward, with fire remaining inside and nobody inside, the station said, attributing those details to officials.
The station described roughly 40 to 50 responders from 12 agencies, with five tankers supplying water and Windham’s social-services director assisting at the scene. It also reported the road closed. No reopening has been verified.
The ongoing response prompted Windham Center to cancel its annual memorial ceremony, the department announced at 10 a.m.
The cause and a later fire-control or road-reopening time have not been established. This report combines the department’s directly read notices with WFSB’s attributed account; Eastern CT News has not independently assessed the scene.
