WILLIMANTIC — Covenant Soup Kitchen is asking the community to help cover a shortage of 300 to 400 turkeys for Thanksgiving, WFSB reported Friday evening, November 6.
Kitchen manager Frank Lepri told the station the usual supply from Connecticut Foodshare was short this year. The kitchen expects to serve roughly 630 to 640 meals with Foodshare’s help, according to WFSB. Those are meal estimates, separate from the number of turkeys sought.
People planning to contribute can use the kitchen’s published delivery instructions: donations go to the back door of the church building marked CSK Deliveries at 220 Valley Street in Willimantic.
The organization lists donation hours of 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday, or by appointment. It asks donors to avoid the noon-to-1 p.m. lunch service when possible and call 860-423-1643 before large deliveries.
The kitchen also accepts monetary contributions through its official website. Donors with questions about turkey size, storage or delivery arrangements should contact the organization before bringing a large donation.
