A resident suffered serious injuries after a late-night fire at Willington Woods senior housing on October 9, according to fire-department information reported by Patch and WFSB.
Willington Fire Department No. 1, Willington Hill and mutual-aid crews were dispatched around 11:23 p.m. While responding, they were told someone might be trapped. The small fire was already out when crews arrived, but smoke remained on the second floor.
One resident was taken by LifeStar helicopter to a hospital. Other residents were transported to hospitals for evaluation. The available reports do not establish their individual diagnoses or a subsequent condition update.
The building remained occupiable, fire officials said. That assessment concerns the building; it does not mean that nobody was injured.
The Willington Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause. No confirmed cause was available in the reviewed reporting. Patch and WFSB both attribute the central incident details to officials, so their agreement is not treated as two independent eyewitness accounts.
