WILLINGTON — Residents have until October 31 to comment on a proposed management plan for Fenton-Ruby Park and Wildlife Preserve, according to the town’s current notice.

The Conservation Commission posted its request September 28. The linked August 19 draft covers 2027–2032 and remains a proposal, with its adoption date blank.

The draft identifies trail and bridge maintenance, invasive plants and off-leash dogs as management challenges. It proposes evaluating accessible routes between the parking area and fishing pier, improving picnic-table access and monitoring water quality.

Other proposed work includes regular inspections of the Petix Sanctuary’s two dams, volunteer trail stewardship and partnerships with local schools and universities. The document describes a park of approximately 312 acres following the sanctuary’s March 2025 addition.

Costs and implementation priorities would be developed after adoption. The draft describes commission adoption for revisions without significant changes in park uses, or a town vote if significant changes are identified. Neither an approved construction budget nor a final adoption decision is established by this draft.

The town’s Conservation Commission website links the document for public review. This is coverage of an ongoing planning process, not a new October 13 approval.
