A kitten rescued from the water below the Gold Star Memorial Bridge now lives with one of the people who saved her, according to NBC Connecticut’s October 12 report.

Bobby Silva, a 26-year-old Waterford resident and Laborers Local 547 member, helped retrieve the five-week-old kitten during safety-boat training on June 27 after a radio call from New London Animal Control.

NBC reports that veterinary care found no broken bones, although the kitten had a bruised lung and fluid in it. Silva adopted her July 19 and named her Molly Carlson.

The report describes Molly settling into her new home and becoming affectionate. The rescue and adoption happened this summer; the October report is a follow-up, rather than a new bridge incident.

How the kitten reached the bridge remains uncertain. This account is attributed to NBC’s interviews and its reporting of New London Animal Control’s information.
