VOLUNTOWN — Residents can discuss CTDOT’s proposed replacement of the Route 49 bridge over the Pachaug River at a virtual public meeting November 3 at 6 p.m. The agency identifies the crossing as Bridge 01012 on Ekonk Hill Road.
The project page describes deteriorating concrete tee-beams and a replacement intended to bring the crossing to current roadway standards. CTDOT anticipates limited right-of-way impacts.
The estimated construction cost is $7 million, with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funding anticipated. Spring 2029 is the projected construction start, contingent on funding, property-right acquisition and permits; it is not a guaranteed start date.
The presentation will be followed by questions and answers and recorded for later viewing. The official project page provides the online meeting link. Telephone access is 877-853-5257 with meeting ID 839 1952 4821.
