Former state school-construction official Konstantinos “Kosta” Diamantis was sentenced September 30 to seven years in prison and three years of supervised release in a corruption case that included Tolland’s Birch Grove Primary School, federal prosecutors announced.

A jury had convicted him in October 2025 of extortion, bribery, conspiracy and false-statement offenses. Prosecutors said trial evidence showed he demanded payments while helping contractors obtain or retain school-project work, including masonry and construction-administration contracts for Birch Grove’s emergency rebuilding.

The official September 30 account said Diamantis did not appear for sentencing and was being sought by law enforcement at that time. It stated that restitution would be determined through further proceedings.

CT Mirror’s September 30 courtroom report also identified Tolland among the communities involved in restitution proceedings. No final restitution award is established here. This report covers the September sentencing; it does not establish a newer custody or appeal status.
