A civil lawsuit seeks to restrict future commercial uses of Denison Society property in Mystic, The Day reported October 16.
According to the newspaper’s account, a complaint filed in September in New London Superior Court seeks damages exceeding $15,000 and an order barring uses the plaintiff alleges conflict with the land’s conservation and donor commitments.
The Day links the dispute to an earlier cell-tower proposal that was withdrawn. Withdrawal of that proposal does not by itself resolve the broader land-use claims described in the suit.
Society president Stephen Solley declined to address the allegations but told the newspaper that the land currently remains farmland.
The society’s own history identifies its museum and preservation role in Stonington and describes the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center as a separate nonprofit. That background does not establish the merits of the complaint.
Eastern CT News has not independently reviewed the complaint or current court docket. No judgment on the allegations is established by this report.
