STERLING — Several fire departments responded early Sunday to a chimney fire that extended to a home in the 200 block of Porter Pond Road in Oneco, according to a CT First Response report shared by WINY.

The report said a resident told dispatchers that the fire had spread from the chimney and that the exterior of the house was burning. Everyone was initially reported accounted for and uninjured. An Oneco fire officer arrived shortly after dispatch and confirmed a working structure fire, the report said.

Mutual aid was reported from Sterling, Voluntown, Moosup, South Killingly and West Coventry, Rhode Island. Plainfield and Central Village responded as rapid-intervention teams, Moosup-Plainfield Ambulance assisted, and Atwood Hose was later added to the rapid-intervention assignment.

The report, posted at 1:53 a.m., said traffic delays and road closures were expected in the immediate area during the response and that Eversource had been requested. Eastern CT News did not find a subsequent official update during its early-morning review, so the current road status, extent of damage and cause had not been independently confirmed.
