FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The New England Revolution strengthened their playoff position Saturday with a 1–0 win over Chicago Fire FC, completing a two-win week that had already secured the club’s first MLS Cup Playoffs berth since 2023.
Matt Polster scored in the 26th minute at Gillette Stadium, finishing a move assisted by Carles Gil and Connecticut native Peyton Miller. Goalkeeper Matt Turner made six saves as New England protected its lead, according to the club’s official match report.
The victory moved the Revolution to 16–10–4 and 52 points. It was their 10th home win of the season, witnessed by 34,506 fans — their largest home crowd this year, the club reported. Turner’s clean sheet was his sixth of the campaign.
Saturday’s result followed a 3–2 comeback win at FC Cincinnati on Wednesday, October 14. Dor Turgeman scored twice and Josh Wynder supplied a goal and an assist as New England recovered after conceding first. Turner made eight saves to help preserve the win and the playoff berth.
The two victories reverse the immediate direction of a week that began with a 3–0 home loss to Seattle on October 10. Saturday’s win does not itself establish that New England has secured homefield advantage; the club’s report describes that as an objective still being pursued.
Next up is a road match against Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park on Saturday, October 24, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern. Both Wednesday’s Cincinnati match and Saturday’s Chicago match are completed results.
