PUTNAM — Police searched MJ Smoke Shop on Providence Street on September 29 as part of an investigation into alleged unlawful cannabis sales, Quiet Corner Alerts and Newport Dispatch reported.
Both outlets described the operation as execution of a search-and-seizure warrant around 4:22 p.m. by Putnam’s Detective and Patrol divisions, assisted by the Department of Consumer Protection’s Cannabis Control Division and the Department of Revenue Services.
The reports, attributing the account to police, listed cannabis products, kratom, packaging materials, scales and currency among the items seized. They said community complaints had prompted the investigation.
Quiet Corner Alerts’ September 30 account and Newport Dispatch’s October 1 account said arrests were pending at that time. Eastern CT News has not independently obtained the warrant or verified any later arrests, charges or outcome. A search or seizure alone does not establish anyone’s guilt.
The two accounts describe the same police operation and are not treated as two independent investigations. This is dated coverage of the September search, not a claim that police conducted a new raid today.
