PUTNAM — A person seriously injured in a machinery accident on Providence Pike Monday morning was flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, according to the East Putnam Fire Department.

The department said East Putnam firefighters, Putnam EMS and a Quinebaug Valley paramedic were dispatched to 16 Providence Pike, identified in its statement as Valvoline, at approximately 10:41 a.m. October 26. An off-duty Connecticut State Police trooper reported the incident.

Volunteers aboard Rescue 179 arrived in about two minutes and found a person on the ground beside machinery that had reportedly run over them. The trooper had already applied two tourniquets, the department said. Fire personnel provided care until Putnam EMS arrived.

Life Star was requested. Service 179 secured a landing zone at the nearby East Putnam firehouse with help from the Putnam building official, according to the department. The ambulance reached the landing zone as Life Star 2 landed, and the patient was flown to Worcester with serious injuries.

CTPoliceLive separately described the injured person as an 18-year-old construction worker struck by a skid steer. Its report was presented as scanner-based information; the fire department's statement did not specify an age or machine type, and police confirmation of those details has not been obtained.

Quiet Corner Alerts reported a significant leg injury and a helicopter request. Northeast NewsReel also posted about the incident, explicitly attributing those details to Quiet Corner Alerts rather than supplying independent confirmation.

The reviewed reports did not identify the injured person or establish what caused the accident. No later medical condition was confirmed.
