Plainfield’s new fire station on Railroad Avenue is expected to be finished by May 2027, according to a construction update published by NLC Fire Wire on October 25.

The outlet’s caption identifies the project as the Plainfield Fire Department’s new Station 95. It dates the accompanying construction photographs to October 14 and its video to October 21. Eastern CT News reviewed the caption through the owner-designated RSS feed; the construction photographs and video were not independently reviewed.

The location is part of the response plan. In an April 15 report, WFSB said the new building would have access from both Railroad Avenue and Windsor Avenue, giving firefighters an alternative when freight trains block a crossing. Fire Chief Travis Irons told the station that the existing firehouse had health and safety problems.

WFSB reported in April that construction was expected to take about a year, supported by USDA funding. The newer May 2027 target is NLC Fire Wire’s reported expectation, rather than a verified opening date or a guarantee that construction will finish on schedule.

The material reviewed did not establish a current project cost, a confirmed opening ceremony or a change in fire coverage. The photograph accompanying this article is an April file image of Plainfield Fire Department apparatus, not a current construction photograph.
