NORWICH — A father and daughter working in different materials will share Norwich Arts Center’s gallery this month, with ‘Relics of Becoming’ scheduled for November 5–28.

The exhibition pairs Peter Leibert’s ceramics and mixed-media work with Kristin Merrill’s jewelry and sculpture, according to the Norwich Bulletin’s account of the announcement. The arts center confirms an opening reception Friday, November 6, from 6 to 8 p.m.

For visitors deciding when to go, the reception is separate from the first exhibition day. Regular gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with visits also available by appointment. The center lists its address as 62 Broadway in downtown Norwich.

Merrill’s connection to Norwich predates this show. In her artist biography, she credits Norwich Free Academy jeweler and teacher Jack Fix with inspiring her to study jewelry. She went on to earn a fine-arts degree in metals at Rochester Institute of Technology and now works at Metro Art Studios in Bridgeport.

Her biography also describes growing up around her father’s pottery and sculpture on the family’s Connecticut farm. The joint exhibition brings that family influence into a setting where visitors can compare their distinct materials and approaches.

Norwich Arts Center is an all-volunteer nonprofit whose two galleries occupy the first floor of its Broadway building. Visitors seeking an appointment or other attendance information can call 860-887-2789.
