A $900,000 allocation through the City of Norwich supported construction of 14 Habitat for Humanity homes in the city, according to an October 23 release from U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney’s office.

The money came from Norwich’s American Rescue Plan funding. The release describes support for homes already built; it does not announce a new grant or say the allocation covered their entire construction cost.

Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut recognized Courtney at its Building Hope & Homes celebration in Mystic on October 22. The release identifies a participant as the owner of the fourteenth home supported by the funding.

The reviewed announcement does not provide current application procedures, available properties or a new construction schedule. It should not be read as notice that 14 homes are currently available.
