NORTH STONINGTON — Desmond’s Army Animal Law Advocates is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of whoever was responsible for reportedly throwing three kittens from a moving car October 17.

The organization’s original notice says the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. and involved a white Hyundai Elantra traveling toward the fire department. NBC Connecticut also reported the appeal October 21.

According to the organization, the kittens survived and were in stable condition but faced a lengthy recovery. They were not available for adoption when the notice was published.

The appeal asks nearby residents and businesses to check home-security, doorbell, dashcam and other footage from around the reported time, particularly for a white Elantra and its license plate. Tips should go to North Stonington Animal Control at 860-287-2197.

The reward is conditional on information leading to both arrest and prosecution. Desmond’s Army says the offer expires January 15, 2027; it should not be understood as a guaranteed payment for every tip.

The incident details and kittens’ condition are attributed to Desmond’s Army and NBC’s report. Eastern CT News has not independently obtained a police incident report or confirmed a suspect.
