Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and unions representing nearly 1,700 employees have ratified multi-year contracts, The Day reported Friday, October 16, citing a hospital announcement.

The agreements for nurses and technologists run through March 31, 2029. The service and clerical employees’ contract extends through October 16, 2028, according to the report by John Penney.

The agreements follow prolonged negotiations and an August 24 informational picket outside the New London hospital. That demonstration was not a strike. Union representatives had raised pay, staffing and mandatory on-call scheduling concerns during the earlier dispute.

In an afternoon update, The Day reported that AFT Connecticut spokesman Matt O’Connor said negotiators secured salary increases for all three unions and an end to mandatory overtime for technicians. O’Connor described the agreements as four-year contracts.

The report does not give wage percentages or the full contract language. Ending mandatory overtime for technicians does not establish that every on-call requirement has ended.

The ratification and contract dates are attributed to The Day’s reporting; Eastern CT News has not independently reviewed the signed agreements.
