MONTVILLE — Students were safely evacuated during a fire at Saint Bernard School on October 2, according to WFSB’s report citing Chesterfield Fire Company chief executive Steven Frischling.

WFSB reported that the call came around 8:53 a.m. and that firefighters knocked down the fire near the admissions office. Hearst Connecticut Media’s Richard Chumney separately reported a response around 8:55 a.m., citing Norwich Firefighters Local 892.

The union told Hearst that crews limited the fire to an office in the admissions building. Hearst reported that the Montville Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the cause.

This is coverage of the October 2 incident, not a new fire or current evacuation warning. A later cause determination or school damage assessment was not obtained during this review.
