MONTVILLE — Mohegan Sun Arena will close December 15 for renovation work, with a February 28, 2027 reopening concert planned, the casino announced Thursday.

For concertgoers, the temporary shutdown is the key scheduling change in a $30 million project that has already begun while the arena remains open. Mohegan Sun says the work includes replacing seats, renovating concessions and concourses, and upgrading restrooms, elevators and electrical systems.

Breaking Benjamin is scheduled to headline the reopening, joined by Starset, P.O.D. and Filter. The casino says tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster November 6 and at its box office beginning at noon November 7, subject to availability.

The renovation also calls for new entrance displays, expanded food options and a north-end marketplace using Amazon’s checkout-free technology. A separate phase in 2027 would add a nearly 4,000-square-foot VIP lounge accommodating up to 150 people at the Casino of the Sky entrance.

Mohegan Sun also plans a $22 million renovation of Earth Tower beginning in summer 2027. The casino has not yet announced the scope or a guest-room closure schedule for that hotel work.

The Day reported Thursday that the arena project had been estimated at $25 million when construction began in August. Mohegan Sun’s new announcement puts the investment at $30 million.
