MANSFIELD — Drivers cannot leave vehicles on town roads or in designated municipal parking areas between midnight and 6 a.m. under Mansfield’s winter parking ban, which took effect November 1 and runs through April 15.
The restriction applies even on nights without snow. The town’s November 1 reminder names downtown on-street spaces along Storrs Road, Dog Lane, Elsie Marsh Way, Royce Circle and Wilbur Cross Way. A separate provision bars parking whenever snow or ice has accumulated on covered roads or parking areas, regardless of the hour.
For people who need to park downtown overnight, the Mansfield Downtown Partnership identifies the Downtown Storrs Parking Garage at 33 Royce Circle as the permitted option. Its parking guide lists overnight charges of $2 an hour from midnight to 6 a.m., capped at $12, and says the garage is open 24 hours.
The town warns that vehicles violating the ban or obstructing plowing will be towed. Public Works also asks bicycle owners to keep bikes off sidewalks and the Town Square overnight or during snowstorms so crews can clear those areas.
Questions about the winter restriction can go to Mansfield Public Works at 860-429-3331. The garage’s parking office is at 860-429-3365.
