STORRS — UConn basketball fans planning to park downtown will have a free ride to Gampel Pavilion beginning Sunday, November 8. The Mansfield Downtown Partnership’s returning Gameday Shuttle will serve regular-season men’s and women’s home games through February 28, Patch reported Friday.

The pickup location depends on which team is playing. The partnership’s current service page directs men’s-game passengers to the Nash-Zimmer Transportation Center at 23 Royce Circle. For women’s games, the stop is outside Homefield Connecticut at 1 Royce Circle, about 400 feet from the parking garage.

Shuttles begin an hour before tipoff and continue until about an hour after the game ends, according to the partnership. The campus drop-off is within walking distance of the M&T Bank Center at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion.

The ride is free, but a game-length garage stay may not be. The Downtown Storrs Parking Garage at 33 Royce Circle offers the first two hours free, then charges $1 an hour from 6 a.m. to midnight, with an $8 daytime maximum. Its overnight rate is $2 an hour from midnight to 6 a.m., with a $12 maximum for that period, the partnership’s parking guidance says.

Short-term street spaces have posted limits of 30 minutes or an hour. Fans can also reach Nash-Zimmer on CTtransit’s daily 913 Hartford/Buckland/Storrs Express, which the partnership identifies as a connection to the shuttle.
