The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry will host a free discussion about stop-motion puppet making on October 28 at 6:30 p.m. in its theater at 1 Royce Circle in downtown Storrs, according to the institute’s October 5 announcement.

UConn illustration and animation professor Allison Paul will moderate the conversation with Puppet Arts alum Maggie Flanagan. The program will cover Flanagan’s work at animation studio LAIKA and practical experience contributing to Wildwood.

The institute says the discussion will address mold making, silicone casting and work supporting animators through puppet repair. Flanagan also teaches puppet-building workshops and operates a custom-character-puppet business.

The forum is part of Ballard’s fall series. Admission is free, with donations welcomed and refreshments planned. Visitors can request accommodations or further information from the institute at 860-486-8580 or bimp@uconn.edu. This advance arts brief is based on the organizer’s announcement; attendees should check for changes before traveling.
