Ledyard’s committee studying whether to divide its combined Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to meet October 13 at 6 p.m. at the Town Hall Annex, 741 Colonel Ledyard Highway, with remote access, according to Patch’s review of the agenda.
Members are considering whether separate boards would improve long-term planning and zoning review. Topics include volunteer recruitment, staff needs, legal notices, operating expenses and potential charter or ordinance changes.
The review also asks whether separating the functions would affect application-processing times and alignment with the town’s conservation and development plan. Experience from other Connecticut municipalities is part of the discussion.
No final recommendation is scheduled for a vote, Patch reports. The committee is preparing a report for the Town Council; this is an evaluation of possible structural changes, not an adopted reorganization.
