LEDYARD — A 62-year-old Ledyard man faces drunken-driving and right-of-way charges after a two-car crash on Colonel Ledyard Highway on Friday, October 16, according to a police release dated that day and provided to Eastern CT News on October 19.

Officers responded at approximately 8:43 p.m. Police said their investigation included standardized field sobriety tests, which one operator did not perform to the required standard. Officers took him into custody, towed the vehicle and brought him to police headquarters for processing.

Police identified the operator as Keith J. Bayer and charged him with operating under the influence and failure to grant the right of way. The department said he was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on November 2.

The two-page release does not describe injuries, damage to the vehicles or an alcohol-test result. It identifies the matter as case 26-292-AR. The charges are accusations; Bayer is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
