KILLINGLY — A 48-year-old Dayville man died after a head-on crash on North Main Street late Tuesday, October 20, according to a Wednesday morning WFSB report citing Connecticut State Police.
WFSB identified the driver as Darrell J. McClellan of Dayville. The station reported that McClellan was driving a 2012 Honda Accord north at about 9:15 p.m. when the car entered the southbound lane and struck a 2008 Toyota 4Runner head-on.
The 4Runner’s driver, a 24-year-old woman from Brooklyn, was taken to Day Kimball Hospital with minor injuries, the report says. McClellan suffered fatal injuries. Eastern CT News is omitting additional personal details that are not needed to explain the collision.
Initial reporting Tuesday night said Route 12 was closed between Dog Hill Road and Rock Avenue while firefighters, emergency medical crews and state police worked at the scene. WFSB reported Wednesday morning that the road had reopened.
State police were still investigating the cause Wednesday morning. The reviewed report did not announce charges, identify a case number or provide a public witness-contact request. This article will be updated if police release material new findings.
