KILLINGLY — Ryan Fitzgibbons pleaded guilty to wire fraud September 9 in Bridgeport federal court over thefts from two nonprofit organizations, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.
Prosecutors said Fitzgibbons took approximately $734,683 from Holy Family Home & Shelter in Windham between November 2021 and June 2023 through unauthorized transfers, purchases, withdrawals and checks. The organization provides housing for people experiencing homelessness.
The government said he later took approximately $40,769 from Durham Middlefield Youth & Family Services after becoming its executive director in April 2024.
Fitzgibbons agreed to pay $775,452.21 in restitution. The release lists December 2 sentencing and a $100,000 bond pending that hearing. The offense carries a maximum 20-year term, which is not a sentence already imposed.
This report covers the September plea. No later sentencing outcome was verified; readers should confirm hearing dates through current court records.
