Groton residents can question Connecticut Department of Transportation plans for two Route 349 bridges over Birch Plain Creek during a virtual public meeting October 29 at 6 p.m., according to the City of Groton’s official notice.
The proposal covers bridges 07109 and 07110, originally constructed in 1964. Estimated construction costs are $2 million and $3 million respectively, with an anticipated funding split of 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
Construction is tentatively expected in spring 2030. That timing depends on funding, rights-of-way acquisition and permit approvals. Temporary construction easements would provide access and work areas around both structures; the notice does not announce immediate road closures.
The Zoom presentation will be followed by questions and recorded. Residents may listen by calling 877-853-5257 and entering meeting ID 815 3138 5165. Comments remain open through November 12; submissions should identify projects 0058-0347 and 0058-0348.
Meeting access, comment contacts and language-assistance information are available through the official city calendar notice linked below.
