GROTON — A 223-home development proposed near Sandy Hollow and Noank Ledyard roads in Mystic would use roughly 80 acres beside Pequot Woods, The Day reported October 15.

Sandy Hollow Development LLC and EG Home LLC are seeking a wetlands permit for the project, called The Grange. The newspaper reports that plans retain about 32 acres as open space and renovate an existing barn.

Neighbors interviewed by The Day raised concerns about farmland loss, traffic and possible effects on wells. Those concerns are not findings that the development would cause those impacts.

Wetlands review is an initial step. A separate Planning and Zoning Commission special-permit application and public hearing would follow if the wetlands permit is approved, the newspaper reports. No final development approval or construction start is established here.

Project details and interviews are attributed to The Day. The underlying application and subsequent meeting outcome were not independently obtained.
