EASTERN CONNECTICUT — October 26, 2026 edition. This week’s selected notices include two newly posted Connecticut Department of Transportation proposals, two municipal filing deadlines and reminders for public-comment windows that close soon. All times are Eastern. A meeting, application or proposal does not establish approval.
GROTON — CTDOT has scheduled an in-person public information meeting for proposed changes to Route 614 at the I-95 northbound and southbound ramps and Sandy Hollow Road. The meeting is December 10 at the Thrive55+ Active Living Center, 102 Newtown Road. An open house begins at 6:30 p.m.; the presentation starts at 7 p.m., followed by questions and answers. The proposal calls for three modern roundabouts and a continuous pedestrian-and-bicycle path. CTDOT estimates the work at about $16 million and anticipates construction in spring 2029, subject to funding, rights-of-way and permits. Comments are due December 24 and should reference Project 0058-0341.
EAST LYME, GROTON, OLD LYME, OLD SAYBROOK AND STONINGTON — A separate CTDOT proposal would add or upgrade rectangular rapid-flashing beacons, sidewalk landing areas, ramps and signs at pedestrian crossings. The virtual public information meeting is December 8 at 6 p.m. The official project page provides online and telephone access. Comments are due December 22 and should reference Project 0172-0551. CTDOT estimates the broader project at about $2.2 million and anticipates construction in summer 2028, subject to funding, easements and permit approvals.
LEDYARD — People and businesses that own or lease taxable personal property in town must file a sworn declaration with the assessor by November 2. The town says the filing covers categories including construction equipment, machinery, commercial furniture and fixtures, electronic data-processing equipment, certain vehicles and trailers, and other taxable property. Failure to file, or failure to use the required long form, carries a 25% penalty under the town’s notice. New businesses may request forms from the Assessor’s Office.
STONINGTON — Personal-property declarations are also due November 2. The town says its Assessment Department is offering online filing beginning with the 2026 filing period, and prior filers should receive mailed instructions. Owners of taxable personal property should use the Assessment Department’s current instructions or call the office before the deadline if they need help.
VERNON — CTDOT’s virtual meeting on proposed centerline rumble strips along portions of Route 527, West Street, is October 27 at 6 p.m. The project remains proposed. Comments are due November 10 and should reference Project 0171-0531.
KILLINGLY — The public-comment period for the proposed replacement of the Wright Road bridge over Quanduck Brook closes October 29. Comments should reference Project 0068-0220. CTDOT continues to describe construction as anticipated for spring 2029, subject to funding, property acquisition and permits.
HELD ITEM — Ledyard’s newly posted October 28 special-town-meeting page contains conflicting displayed time fields: the notice body says 6:30 p.m., while a separate event field displays 10:30 p.m. Because the official page is internally inconsistent, this edition does not publish a meeting time from that page. Readers should confirm directly with the town before relying on it.
