EAST LYME — A holiday collection shift and an ongoing boardwalk project are affecting town services and waterfront access this week, according to separate East Lyme notices.
The town scheduled no trash or recycling pickup Monday, October 12, and a double pickup Tuesday, October 13. Residents were asked to place bins at the street by 7 a.m. Because two regular routes are being handled on one day, the town warns that collection may be earlier or later than usual.
The transfer station is closed October 13. The published schedule lists it open Wednesday through Saturday, October 14–17, before another Sunday closure. The town asks residents whose curbside cans are not collected to wait until the next day before reporting a problem because crews may still be running late.
Separately, the Niantic River Boardwalk has been closed for re-decking since October 5. The town announced an approximate six-week closure, but did not publish a guaranteed reopening date in the notice.
The Niantic Bay Boardwalk remains open. The town says visitors can continue to reach it through Cini Park or Hole-in-the-Wall, and vehicle access to Cini Park is not interrupted.
Residents should use the town pages for any schedule changes. Public Works lists 860-691-4118 for boardwalk questions and directs collection issues to the town’s resident-report system.
