Connecticut’s Office of Inspector General and the State Police Central District Major Crime Squad are investigating a Yale University police officer’s gunfire during an October 14 response on Whitney Avenue in New Haven.

In an October 16 preliminary release, investigators said Officer Ancil Farrier fired twice through a locked vehicle’s windows while officers sought to remove its occupant during an emergency. The vehicle was in a parking lot owned and operated by the New Haven Lawn Club.

Officers removed the occupant and provided medical aid. The inspector general said it did not appear the person was struck by gunfire. No officers were physically injured, according to the release.

The office released links to portions of body-camera, cruiser-camera and bystander video. Its investigation remains ongoing; the preliminary account is not a final finding about whether the force was justified.
