About 900 Connecticut community-college students are affected by delayed federal loan disbursements, according to an October 26 WFSB report citing the state community-college system.
WFSB reported that the system attributed the delay to changes being processed by software provider Ellucian following federal budget legislation. The broadcaster said part-time students were most affected and quoted the system describing resolution as an urgent priority.
Students interviewed by WFSB described waiting for money they expected to use for living expenses. The report said Ellucian had not responded to its requests for clarification. Eastern CT News has not independently obtained a resolution timetable.
CT State’s separate official guidance, updated October 12, says 2026–27 Federal Direct Loan offers initially reflect full-time enrollment and may be reduced after review of eligible credits. That guidance explains the adjustment process; it does not establish when the current delayed payments will arrive.
The college directs students to review their financial-aid offer in myCTState and contact their campus financial-aid office about enrollment changes. Its published directory lists Three Rivers in Norwich at 860-215-9040 and Quinebaug Valley in Danielson at 860-932-4003.
The reported 900-student figure is system-wide. No campus-by-campus count was established in the reviewed material, and the Three Rivers file photograph does not imply that every affected student attends that campus.
