Connecticut organizers are preparing another round of “No Kings” gatherings Saturday, October 17, with voter preparation taking a larger role ahead of the November 3 general election.
CT Mirror’s Zuriel Sarosh reported Friday that dozens of events are planned statewide. The newspaper identifies a Hartford gathering at the Capitol’s South Lawn at 11 a.m., alongside events in New London, Stratford and Middletown. Those are plans for Saturday, not reports of attendance or demonstrations already underway.
In New London, the original organizer listing schedules “No Kings: Vote Early” at Parade Plaza, 50 State Street, from 10 a.m. to noon Eastern. The listing names Steve Elci, Ben Parent and the NL Justice Singers among planned musicians. Speakers were still listed as to be announced when checked Friday morning.
The national organizer describes the October 17 effort as a day to help eligible voters understand their options and make voting plans. Its website says events are nonpartisan and commits participants to lawful, nonviolent activity, de-escalation and bringing no weapons. Those are the organizers’ stated aims and rules; this article does not endorse the movement or establish how any individual event will unfold.
The timing puts the gatherings two days before Connecticut’s in-person early voting period begins. The Secretary of the State’s election calendar sets early voting for October 19 through November 1, generally from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hours extend to 8 a.m.–8 p.m. on October 27 and 29. Election Day polling is November 3 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday’s rallies are separate from official voting locations. Residents should confirm their town’s early-voting site with the municipal registrars rather than assume a rally venue is a polling place. Check the original event listing again before traveling, because announced programs and arrangements can change.
The CT Mirror report also describes a greater emphasis on giving people time to resolve registration or logistical problems. No crowd estimate for Saturday, police security arrangement, street closure or cancellation has been established by the sources reviewed for this report.
