Federal authorities are investigating suspicious mail sent to government and election offices, including the office of U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, according to WFSB’s October 15 report.
The station cited a Murphy spokesperson saying the FBI and Capitol Police responded and that the senator and staff were not in immediate danger. Postal inspectors were working to intercept additional letters and establish their origin.
The report does not establish what the substance in the Murphy letter was. It does not announce a suspect or a public evacuation instruction. This account is attributed to WFSB; the newsroom has not independently examined the letter or obtained a laboratory result.
