Gov. Ned Lamont’s campaign spent $10.6 million from July 1 through September 30, compared with $9.6 million for Republican challenger Ryan Fazio, CT Mirror’s Mark Pazniokas reported October 13. These are quarterly expenditures, not totals for the entire race.
The outlet reports that Fazio had $8.4 million available at September’s end, while Lamont had nearly $2.2 million. Those balances are dated snapshots, not measures of the money available today. CT Mirror says Lamont has largely financed his own campaign and opted out of public financing; Fazio participates in the Citizens’ Election Program.
SEEC’s January 28 program overview independently explains the financing framework: participation is voluntary, qualified statewide and legislative candidates can receive public grants, and participating committees must comply with contribution and expenditure limits and financial disclosures. A reported cash balance therefore does not, by itself, describe every campaign’s future spending capacity.
Readers can search original committee filings through SEEC’s public eCRIS document portal. Eastern CT News reviewed the portal and official program guidance, but did not retrieve these campaigns’ individual quarterly filings. The amounts above remain explicitly attributed to CT Mirror.
