Some Connecticut drivers and homeowners could see lower insurance rates under recent company filings, the Connecticut Insurance Department announced Friday, October 16.
The department identified 19 personal-auto filings from 14 companies and 19 homeowners filings from 16 companies that included decreases for certain consumers. These are filings, not a count of distinct insurers across both categories.
For auto insurance, two State Farm affiliates reported an overall average decrease of about 8.4%. Farmers Casualty reported an average decrease of about 14%. Liberty Mutual Personal reported about 6%, affecting roughly 11,500 policyholders.
For homeowners insurance, Liberty Mutual and affiliated companies reported decreases of approximately 5% across more than 30,000 policies.
Those averages do not promise the same savings for every customer. The department says rates vary by insurer, coverage and other rating factors; not everyone will see a lower premium. Its announcement does not supply individual effective dates or policy-level reductions.
Before renewing, ask the company or agent how the filing affects your specific policy. CID’s consumer guides recommend reviewing coverage, asking about available discounts and comparing options.
