COVENTRY — Route 44, also known as Boston Turnpike, has reopened after Thursday morning’s crash near Richmond Road, Coventry police said in an update to their original public alert.

The department’s full caption was rechecked directly at 9:59 a.m. October 15 and begins with an update saying the roadway is back open. Police did not give an exact reopening time. Their earlier closure covered Boston Turnpike between North River Road and Richmond Road.

WFSB’s October 15 report, published at 8:55 a.m., says police placed the two-vehicle crash at approximately 7:30 a.m. The station cites the fire department for the location in the 800 block of Route 44 and reports, citing police, that a driver trapped in a vehicle was being transported to a hospital by Life Star.

No confirmed injury condition, crash cause or information about other occupants was available in the official alert and WFSB account reviewed. Eastern CT News has not independently reviewed a crash report or hospital information.

The reopening supersedes the earlier request to avoid this closed section. No new crash-cause or injury-condition information was established by the police update reviewed.

Update October 15, 9:59 a.m. EDT: Added the police reopening notice and removed the resolved road-closure Radar selection. The original article ID, publication time, sources and distribution selections are retained.
