COLCHESTER — Route 2 westbound is closed between Exits 25 and 20 for roadwork overnight, according to the state’s current CTroads traffic-advisory table.
The mainline closure is scheduled to remain in effect until 6 a.m. Friday, October 23. In its current advisory table, CTroads separately lists the eastbound Exit 20 on-ramp as closed and roadwork on the westbound Exit 20 off-ramp with a warning to expect lane closures.
The work is in a corridor where the Connecticut Department of Transportation has an ongoing rehabilitation project between Exits 20 and 25. CTDOT says the project includes pavement and bridge work, drainage changes and safety improvements.
An October 1 construction advisory says nightly lane and ramp closures may occur at various points within the project limits, with traffic following posted detours. It also warns that weather or unforeseen conditions can change or extend the schedule.
Drivers should follow posted detours, allow extra travel time and check CTroads for the latest conditions before traveling. The 6 a.m. time is the state’s scheduled end for the current closure, not confirmation that the road has reopened.
The file photograph shows Route 11 approaching Route 2 in Colchester in 2017. It does not show Thursday night’s roadwork or the closed westbound segment.
Correction, October 23 at 4:39 a.m. Eastern: An earlier version incorrectly described both Exit 20 off-ramps as closed. The CTroads advisory identifies a closed eastbound on-ramp and a westbound off-ramp lane-closure warning. The westbound mainline closure remains listed through its scheduled 6 a.m. end; reopening has not been confirmed.
