CANTERBURY — Canterbury Public Schools received a $50,000 high-dosage mathematics tutoring grant in Connecticut’s October 5 funding announcement.
Other $50,000 recipients include Groton, Montville, Norwich, Plainfield, Putnam and Stafford. Preston received $23,503.64, while EASTCONN and Regional School Districts 11 and 8 also appear on the award list.
The state awarded $2 million to 42 education agencies after receiving 70 applications. This round expands the program’s focus to grades 6–10.
The model uses frequent individual or small-group sessions with consistent tutors, connected to classroom mathematics and provided during the school day where possible.
The award announcement does not identify each district’s start date, participating students or enrollment process. Families should ask their school about local implementation; receiving a grant does not establish that sessions have already begun.
