ASHFORD — Voters will decide October 19 whether the town should accept Lake Woods Lane as a public highway, according to a legal notice posted October 14.

The proposed transfer covers approximately 2,540 feet, from North Road to the subdivision’s cul-de-sac. A second part of the resolution would authorize the Board of Selectmen to execute deeds, easements and other documents conveying the roadway and associated drainage structures.

The proposal is not an approved transfer. The notice places it before a special town meeting at 6:30 p.m., in person only, in the Town Office Building’s lower-level meeting room, 5 Town Hall Road.

Residents can inspect the proposed deeds, survey maps and Planning and Zoning Commission’s favorable report at the Town Clerk’s office before the vote.

The meeting will also elect a Board of Finance alternate to serve until the next municipal election. The notice does not state a road-maintenance cost estimate.
